House Washing, Without the Pressure

Siding should never be pressure washed. High pressure drives water up behind the panels and into the wall, strips paint off clapboard, and can void a siding warranty. The stains on a house are organic anyway, so pressure is the wrong tool: it is the cleaning solution that does the work, not the force.

Soft washing applies a detergent at roughly garden-hose pressure, gives it time to break down the algae and mildew, then rinses it away. The green film on the north side of your house, the grey cast on white vinyl, and the black streaking down your gutters all come off without anything being blasted.

We wet down and rinse the plantings around the house before and after, keep the solution off glass and fixtures, and work top down so nothing dries streaky. If we find rot, failed caulk, or a gap where water is already getting in, we will tell you rather than wash over it.
